3 hr
Every day at 11:00 and 15:30
This is our most popular tour and the perfect option if you want to have an introduction to Lisbon in a few hours.
We'll start the tour visiting Alfama, the oldest neighbourhood in Lisbon. The Phoenicians, the Romans, the Visigoths and the Moors were some of the civilizations who lived around here and have left their influence until Lisbon was conquered by Afonso Henriques, the first king of Portugal in 1147.
From the shores of the Tagus river to São Jorge Castle, you will have the opportunity to feel the mix of cultures so unique to Lisbon.
The charming narrow streets, the famous “azulejos” on the walls, the clothes hanging on the balconies, the old fashion trams, the many steps up and down, the delicious local food, the friendly locals and the soul of the Portuguese culture, Fado.
Later, we'll visit the areas called Baixa and Chiado, the romantic neighbourhoods in Lisbon that have been the meeting point of famous artists, writers, poets and politicians since the XVIII century. They are still considered the heart of the city with its imposing buildings, historical monuments and the most cosmopolitan areas.
You'll learn a bit more about the rich history of Portugal, the end of the monarchy, the change of the capital to a foreign country, the Jewish massacre, the longest dictatorship in Europe, the revolution that changed the country and the many aspects of the Portuguese culture.
From the historical Praça do Comércio (Commerce Square), one of the most emblematic symbols of Lisbon, we’ll take you to places like Elevator Santa Justa, Augusta Street, the Jewish Memorial, São Jorge Castle, Rossio Square, Sé Cathedral, Casa dos Bicos, Portas do Sol and Santa Luzia viewpoints, São Domingos Church, Carmo Square and much more.
