UEFA confirms Lisbon as host of Champions League Finals

Another wonderful news for Portugal this summer. UEFA has confirmed this afternoon that Lisbon will host the quarter-finals, semi-finals and final of the Champions League this summer. The eight qualifying clubs will play single matches with straight knockout between 12-23 August.

Matches will be played at Benfica's Estádio da Luz and Sporting Lisbon's José Alvalade Stadium, following the suspension of all international competitions due to the Covid-19 Pandemic.

The quarter-final matches are scheduled to be played on 12, 13, 14 and 15 August, the Semi-finals on 18 and 19 August and the final, on 23 August at Benfica's Stadium.

The Portuguese Hotels Association (AHP) said they are "very satisfied" with the announcement. Its president, Raul Martins said "This is a great opportunity to attract the attention of millions of Europeans to Portugal. It's also a important sign of trust that international organizations are showing to Portugal, our institutions, our companies and Portuguese people".

This can be the boost the country needed to start overcoming the effects of the Covid-19 Pandemic in the Tourism Industry and show to the World the country is ready to welcome tourists back.
